Bill and his son Alexander. June 2011.

Hi, and thanks for taking the time to check out Cigar Snapshot!  I hope that I am able to provide an interesting and engaging stream of content through my podcast.

A little about me…

I was writing a blurb for the Facebook page, and it really hit me.  At the time I am writing this page (July, 2011), I am 41 years old, and have enjoyed cigars for just over 20 years.  I started smoking cigars when I was in college down in Riverside, CA.  I started running to the local cigar store to grab a couple of cigars to try out while I was studying.  I started off with bundles and seconds, and then started to explore a variety of premiums as well.  It was all downhill from there…

I used to write a lot of reviews for cigar forums, and even had a blog for a short time with cigar reviews, but as life moved along, I found that those things kind of tapered off.  I still am a regular on cigar forums (as “MaytagMan”), but don’t write many reviews or keep a blog updated anymore.   (I am now a Moderator on the StogieChat cigar forum, and my wife and I had a son on February 18, 2011.  That is where a lot of that time went!)

What brought me back to the blogger/podcaster world?  I subscribe to and read lot of GREAT cigar blogs, and listen to some GREAT podcasts.  I was trying to find a niche that was not being filled that would also fit with my lifestyle and listening preferences.  This is how Cigar Snapshot was born.

I talked to my good friend Doc from the Stogie Fresh   podcast, and he gave me the push that I needed to develop my idea.  I currently subscribe to 21 cigar blogs via RSS and 7 cigar podcasts via iTunes.  That is a lot of reading and listening to fit in on a weekly basis, and that is not counting the non-cigar related blogs and podcasts I read and listen to… Five of the cigar podcasts I subscribe to are over two hours in length, and sometimes I have trouble keeping up.

I decided to try something a little different – something that I would find useful and easily digested as a listener.  My goal with Cigar Snapshot is to create short 20-ish minute episodes where I share my thoughts on a cigar – a “Snapshot”.   If I get to the point where I conduct and interview or do any other content that is not about a specific cigar, I plan to do it in a separate episode.  That way, the episode times will remain under control, and subscribers can skip over content that they are not particularly interested in without having to fast forward through parts of an episode while they are listening.

I would like to hear from you f you have any questions, comments, concerns, or compliments.  Please click on the CONTACT tab at the top and send me a message, or call the Voicemail Feedback Line at 209-432-3535 and leave Cigar Snapshot a message.  You never know… your message may be played on a future episode!

Thanks for listening – I hope that you enjoy the Cigar Snapshot Podcast!
